Longest river in Scotland. It rises on the northern slopes of Ben Lui and flows through Loch Tay to enter the North Sea below Dundee after a course of 120 mi (193 km). It drains 2,400 sq mi (6,200 sq km), the largest drainage area in Scotland.
Dundee is on the east coast of Scotland and provides some great sea fishing from shore and boat within a 1 hour drive north or south. Species caught in the River Tay are Flounder, Sea Trout, Cod, Coal fish, Whiting, Salmon and Bass. Baits used are Rag worm, Lugworm, Peeler Crab, Herring/Mackerel strips. Arbroath is just 17 miles north of Dundee with boat fishing in the summer and winter shore fishing for cod where double figures are common. Permits for salmon and sea trout fishing from Dundee area are available from Tayside House in the city centre.
