Located in Scotland, in the centre of the city of Dundee, the University of Abertay Dundee is a modern University, one with a long history (educating students since 1888) that has quickly become one of Scotland’s leading universities, highly ranked for academic performance and with a talented group of students and academics who make the University the success it is today.
Abertay is the top university in Scotland for environmental research and launched Scotland’s first degrees in bioinformatics and biotechnology. Building on expertise in the field of computing, Abertay has recently launched degrees in Smart Systems and Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures.
Abertay’s compact campus in the city centre of Dundee offers convenience to its students – all buildings are within a couple of minutes walk.
The multi-award winning library includes fully-equipped seminar rooms for teaching information and IT skills, group study rooms, a Centre for Language Learning and Self Study, and a specialist legal library. Part of the building has 24-hour access to IT and study facilities as well as a time-out area.
The Student Centre opened in 2005 and provides an advanced and innovative facility for future generations of Abertay students and staff by creating a vibrant heart for the University with first class social and cultural facilities. We have invested £6 million into getting it exactly right, from the beautiful red sandstone exterior to the original interior design that hosts a cinema, coffee bars, exhibition space, performance space and a fabulous roof-top garden.
The Student Centre provides leisure and fun events including theme nights, comedy nights, live bands, karaoke and quiz nights. Activities reflect the multicultural nature of the student community by celebrating events such as Diwali – the Indian Festival of Light, Chinese New Year, and the Mardi Gras.
